Short holiday recount

Year 6s have gone on camp to kawau island for 4 days and 3 nights. Lucky for me I get to stay home with my parents and my big sister. I’m glad I at least have my big sister with me so we can have fun since it’s the holiday’s for her.

I woke up in the morning as usual walking through the hallway into the living room. But something wasn't right. It was Tuesday and I was supposed to meet my dad and he would tell me to go wash my face as usual. That's when I remembered it was camp and I had decided to stay home with my sister and my parents not as usual.

Well I decided to stay home for a reason because since the year 6s when to camp and they were having fun lots of fun I decided to have fun by myself at home with my sister. But then my sister had to go to tuition so then I ended up staying home on my Chromebook playing sky chase and that was kind of boring. But her tuition started at 4:00 o’clock so I gotted to spend some time with her.

So then I ended up staying home by myself for 4 days but at least I had my parents with me and I did watch a few movies and well played a game and then I helped my dad cook the pizza and then put it in the oven and while I was waiting I went back on my Chromebook and played a game and then helped him cut the pizza.

Well that was my story and I guess it was fun staying at home watching movies and playing games and spending time with my parent’s. And my favourite part about staying home was when I helped my dad with cooking the pizza.

The year 6s are on camp at kawau island for 4 days and 3 nights. I was glad because I could spend sometime with my sister. But then I ended up staying home what to do it's a CATASTROPHE!!!!!

Maths Problem Solving: Week 3 Term 4

WALT: Find a fraction of a number

Here is another Maths Problem Solving presentation that I made. This
Presentation is about fractions again but except we had to simplify for example
42 - 21 = 21 21 over 42. Simplify: 21 divide by 7 = 3  42 divide by 7 = 6
So: 3 over 6  3 divide by 3 = 1 6 divide by 3 = 2 so the answer is 1/2.

This Week for our maths problem solving presentation we did fractions again. Fraction's
is sort of like splitting but your not. Here is an example 5/6 of 18 =? Here is
how I got the answer 18 divide by 6 = 3 x 5 = 15 so your answer is 15.

WALT: Find a fraction of a number

Today in this presentation I learnt about fractions. Fractions is like splitting
numbers into half but it's more different. For example 1/2 of 50 it actually
easy because the answer is 25 because what is half of 50? 25. Another different
example is 2/4 of 20? This is much more different then 1/2 of 50. Here is how I
solved 2/4 of 20. 20 divide by 4 = 5 x 2 = 10 so 10 is your anwser.  

Adaptation

The action or process of adapting or being adapted


Adaptation means like when you adapt something for example you give birth or maybe there is a child without parents and you adapt them it's sort of like giving birth but it's just that your not giving birth your adapting. Another example is adaptation but adaptation of an animal. Animals adaptation is when surviving in it's environment. A polar bear is one of the best at surviving because in the winter when it's snowing it's hard to see them because there so white in other word's camouflage.

Fear factor

Just today this morning we did something crazy and man believe me it was crazy but then sooner on it is was just another one off our teacher’s tricks.

This morning I came into room 6 literacy as usual. But nothing was normal we did something weird today we had our own fear factor. But then I remembered last time when I did this challenge the teacher brang out lollies instead of gross and revolting creatures and food. Then Mr Goodwin told us when he picked four students that you will be drinking and eating swamp water and frog eggs I was disgusted by hearing that.

Just then he went to go get the swamp water and frog eggs but once he brang it out everybody started yelling out EWWWWWWW!!!!!!! And then they started saying it’s tuna it’s tuna but it didn't look like tuna to me then that's when it hit me. I knew it was a trick by looking at it and once he brang it I was right. He didn’t tell the four contestants that what it was he just gave it to them and once he said go they all started eating well only two ate slowly. And at the end one of the boys won the competition.

Once I heard that we were writing about fear factor I knew that he was going to get us fake food but then he said that you are eating swamp water and frog eggs for this competition. Then he said that it was real then I thought he was telling us the truth but once he brang it out I found out that it was fake.   

San Diego zoo introduction

This morning we took a very very unusual tour in our very own classroom. We went on a heck of a tour visiting new creatures that we didn't even knew and we found out facts about them like what do they eat what are they good at and how much off them are left in this world. Would it be better taking a tour in your classroom or in the outside world?     

Today we wrote about taking a tour but in our own classroom we took a tour online. And if you read the introduction it doesn't say that we took a tour in our own classroom online. Online we visited a place with creatures we didn't even know well some off them we did know about anyway we learnt facts about them and what they eat it was a great experience.  

Arctic and Antarctica

WALT: Summarise information into presentations

Our task for this presentation was to write a description about the polar region
In other words Antarctica and arctic. We had to write the differences between
them for example the arctic is a little warmer then Antarctica because Antarctica
Is more colder. At the end of the presentation we had to write three facts about
animals that live in the arctic and antarctic.
 

Blood moon

Just A few days ago me and my family except for my sister she was at her tuition went somewhere. We first had to pick my sister off course because she finished early that day. Her tuition usually finishes at 5 pm but instead she finished at 12:00 am. After we picked her up we went to a beach and stayed there for quiet a while like maybe 1 hour. After that we just went to more places to find a place to have a picnic. Just when we found the place we had our picnic and played a few games and spend time talking and after that we left to the beach we came in the first place. We stayed there until 11 O'clock that's when we saw the blood moon appear but it looked a little yellow strange.

Sorry I couldn't find the 2015 blood moon and as you can see on the bottom left corner it says 2004.

American one cent

Today I have just found an american one cent also known as a penny. This is how it began my big sister hajira was going to her tuition for 9 days. We paid $400 dollars for her tuition and this morning I came with my dad to drop her off at west lake girls high school. While we dropped her off we drove back home and on the way we stopped at Michael Joseph savage Memorial park. We used to visit there many time's when I was a child. Anyway In the water I was looking for anything interesting and then I came upon a small penny. I had just told my dad I think I found 10 cents of new Zealand but once I got it out all I found in my hand was a american one cent. It also said E Pluribus Unum Out of many, one ( the motto of the US )

SCHOOL'S OUT!!!!!!!!

I have just come back from school and it is Thursday the 24 of September. Tomorrow on Friday it is our last day and even better we finish at 12:30. Anyway as I was saying sense tomorrow it's a half day and today it's the last full day of this term the teacher's have decided that we should have a fun day. The girls had to go to the other side to Mr baxdines and Mrs Jacobson. And the boys had to go to where we usually all meet as a team for something special. Then we had to wait for each boy to choose what they wanted from the menu. And on the other side where the girls were. I think they did the same thing. Anyway we had to wait and then once ever single boy had there Drinks and lollies and all that stuff we played a movie.

Egg friend race

WALT: Think about my purpose and reader by planning my recount

On monday Room 6 had an egg race. It was kind of weird because why would a teacher give us eggs and tell us weird things like take care of them.

This morning the most weirdest thing happened. Our teacher Mr Goodwin said he was giving us little friends. At first I thought he was crazy but he also said they were very gentle and you must take care of them.

Then all of a sudden everybody's starts talking saying it’s an egg it’s an egg. Then Mr Goodwin reaches out for his cupboard and gets out eggs and a bunch of spoons. He handed us each one egg for two partners. Then told us to draw faces on the egg and name them if you want. I knew exactly what we were doing.

That's when we lined up outside and started walking. I didn't know where we were walking until we came to the court and started walking to the senior playground. Then our teacher Mr Goodwin handed one spoon to me and my partner. Everybody gotted a spoon and that’s when he told us one of your partners have to stand at the end of the playground and you have to walk to them with your egg in your spoon.   

I thought the egg friend race was fun and enjoyable too. I liked the part when one of the girls took the risk by going rock climbing and holding the egg with one hand. At the end when she got to the top she dropped it. It was funny too because a few people dropped their egg and even one girl dropped it and it cracked open on the ground and the egg spilled all over.

Onomatopoeia

WALT: We are learning to use onomatopoeia to help create interest in our writing.                    

We are learning to write and use onomatopoeia in our writing. Onomatopoeia is a word about a mimcing sound like for example ZAP!!! Zap is a mimcing word because it refers to a SUPRISE word. Another example is an action word like BANG!!! And that is what onomatopoeia is. Onomatopoeia is a word that mimics the sound of the object or action it refers to.

Market Day Recount

Market day recount

WALT: Write an interesting and detailed recount.

Last Friday we had our market day. Our market day is we buy other people's products with our pts. Pts is our money it stand for Pt England we can also bank it. Anyway at the market day we made our products in our business groups using the material we borrowed from our business teacher. I remember using the hot glue to make my product it stung me badly on my finger it felt like hot boiling lava.  

We have our market day because it’s for fun. It’s kind of useless using pts for nothing you get the idea, anyway we have business groups for a reason. It’s for our products it’s where we make it without our business group’s we can’t buy anything at the market day because there is nothing to sell so that’s why we have business groups and a market day. In my business group I made rubber band guns it was easy to make but the peg on the rubber band gun was easy to be broken.

Setting up was kind of hard because we didn't have enough space. Plus next to us was the crossbow group and they took most of the space. But we were lucky at least we setted up the cups so they can shoot them down with the rubber band gun. And we also had a chance to put 2 pt in a cup and who ever shot it down would win it but we didn't know where to get 2 pt.

At the market day it was hard to choose what to buy like candles or loom bands or cakes and all those other stuff. Because they were to expensive and I had 10 pt and I spended 6 pt and 50 pieces on loom bands I was left with a little money but thanks to my partner Zack who was selling my rubber band guns I had more money than I had in the first place.

Selling at the market day was easy but it was hard to get there attention even though we made signs it was still hard. Plus the rubber band gun in the first place costed 1pt and 50 pieces it was too expensive for them so we changed the price to 1 pt. And then we had customers coming and going one by one buying. But the problem was we only made 12 rubber band guns that we got sold out quickly and we ended up with 18 pt.

My thoughts about the market day is that it was fun, but everything was too expensive like loom bands for 6 pt when some people only had 10 pt I think they should have made the price a little cheaper because they would be left with only 3 pt once they buy it.

Adventurous verbs

Today our task was to write about adverbs. For an example we had to write how
where and when does it do it. Like how does the kitten purrs, where does the kitten
purrs and when does the kitten purrs.

for me was how would you clean the window I didn't under stand it that
much.

Adam Trade fair recount

This Term our topic is Trade and enterprise. Enterprising means having or showing initiative and resourcefulness. For example the year 7 and 8 are seeing what they can do with twenty dollars. If I had twenty dollars I would save it up, it’s much better,soon you will have a lot of money plus you can buy anything you want, thats showing initiative and  resourcefulness.

This Term the year 5 and 6 have held a trade fair. Our trade fair is sort of like a fair it’s just that we make and sell. At the trade fair we took orders from people so that when they go away next time we can get it ready for them. At the trade fair we had a table set out and some people even started to yell out to get their product. And some people even setted a fun game for people to win a prize that was my favourite part about the trade fair.

We had to choose our business groups for the trade fair. We called it business groups because we crafted and made it’s sort of like a job. We were lucky to choose our business groups, out of 6 groups Homeware, Toys, Kitchen, Jewelry, Custom stationery and Music, I chose toys. In toy’s I made a rubber band gun. With the rubber band gun we made a shooting range, the aim was to shoot all the cups down.

At the trade fair I enjoyed the experience even though I didn't get to go shopping or buy anything I still enjoyed it. My favourite part at the trade fair was when people came in to have a try at the shooting range. Next to my business group was the tin pin bowling group. It was sort of like we were enemies because people mostly came to their business group because they were hearing that if you get them all down your name goes down in the raffle ticket draw.     

We were sort of lucky because we gotted to have another trade fair in week 8. But we only got 2 weeks left until the next trade fair. But so far me and my partner zack have catched up with making our rubber band gun. And I hope at the next trade fair I can get more orders.

Here is a peace of writing that I have made about the trade fair. Our task was to write what our product was what happened what were our stories what group we were in and what the trade fair was. My favourite part about this writing is when I talked about our group next to us tin pin bowling.

Adam's Vocabulary

Today we wrote about What purchase, Employer, Refund and what other stuff meant.
Our task was to write what the word meant for example Salary. Salary is another word
for money but it's money given from the employer to the employee the worker.

Maths Problem Solving Week 5: Term 3

WALT: Multiply and divide whole numbers

For this problem solving session I multiplied and divided whole numbers.
Like 394 x 5 ? Here is how I solved it 300 x 5 = 1500   90 x 5 = 450
4 x 5 = 20   1500 + 450 = 1950  1950 + 20 = 1970 and that is your answer.

Adam Auxiliary verb

WALT: We are learning about auxiliary verbs and using them in sentences.

Today with Mrs Tito we learnt about auxiliary verbs. An auxiliary verb is
a helping verb that tells you when something happening or how it's happening.
